| Working from a dingy basement somewhere in central Bristol, producer Ben Dubuisson
has for the last ten years slaved away on the Akai and Atari, producing tracks
for a whole host of notable labels and artists from both sides of the Atlantic.
Cup Of Tea records, Hombre and now Altered
Vibes, have all released work by Dubuisson and featured artists have
been as diverse as local hip-hop crew Aspects, underground
stalwarts of the Chicago hip-hop scene All Natural, Scottish
songwriter and soul laden vocalist Joseph Malik, New York singer
Alisson Crockett as well as a whole host of others.
Underpinning all these diverse artists is Dubuissons love of old soul, funk
and blues grooves which feature heavily on his latest release "Basement
Blues". Many hours have been spent tracking down old records in
dusty basements and back rooms both for inspiration and for sampling possibilities.
Dubuisson also runs Bristol label High Noon which functions
as an outlet for local Hip-hop and beats producers and featured recently Boca
45's collaboration with McKay which was listed in
Giles Peterson's top records of 2004.
